A new look! 0

Mar30

It’s been awhile since I last posted anything here. It’s not that I’ve abandoned my web project. I’ve just been working on the layout of the site. As you’ll notice, the photo gallery looks more “built-in” to the rest of the site. I still have a lot of work to do on it though to make it look the way I imagine it in my head.

One thing I can say…Internet Explorer is horrible. I do all my web browsing with Firefox and this site looks (nearly) perfect. For the heck of it the other night I decided to check it out in Internet Explorer and I wanted to gag. Things just don’t line up like they are supposed to. I guess someday I’ll have to have the site detect which browser your using, and reformat the pages differently for each browser. I’m sure by the time I get around to that, Microsoft will have released an update to Internet Explorer. In the mean time, I highly recommend using Firefox for browsing the web. It’s safer too!

Brother’s Wedding 0

Smokin!

It’s been quite awhile since I last posted anything. Between work, my brother’s wedding, and our wedding coming up, I’ve been too busy to post. A couple weeks ago we flew to Rochester, NY for my brother’s wedding. Since I was one of the groomsman, I got to wear the rental tux! We just purchased a video camera, so the digital camera didn’t get used all that much, which is fine, as everyone else now has digital cameras. So maybe we’ll get to see some of the pictures from everyone elses cameras. I still need to figure out how to transfer the video to the computer to edit and make something nice out of it. We wanted to get it for our wedding coming up here in November.

While at the wedding I managed to reinjure what I just found out is a torn meniscus in my knee. I’m trying to schedule an MRI now for the doctor to look at before he operates on it. We are trying to get it done ASAP so that I can heal before our wedding and honeymoon.

BBS: The Documentary 5

I spent several hours this weekend reliving my past by watching BBS: The Documentary. It’s a three DVD collection of documentaries on all the different facets of running a BBS (Bulletin Board System). BBS’s were around long before the Internet and were used to communicate with people using different type of computer systems, back in the day. I ran several popular BBSes many years ago. It occupied many, many hours of my time. The videos were quite fascinating, I learned alot from some of the interviews…If you were ever involved in that scene, you should check it out!

Getting deals in unusual places… 0

Aug10

We’ve been slowly working at decorating our new home, after our bedroom set came we decided to get a nice new comforter and a duvet cover. Well, I just have to say, comforters are UNBELIEVABLY EXPENSIVE Image! We went to Bed Bath & Beyond as they had a good seelction and decent prices. The prices are even better with the 20% off coupon that they often mail out. Unfortunately we didn’t have any coupons (nor did we have Linens & Things, those coupons are interchangeable with both stores BTW)…Well, wouldn’t you know it, there are TONS of people selling the coupons on ebay! I picked up a coupon for around $1 that saved me a bunch on the duvet cover, and while I was on ebay I found a great deal on a brand new comforter.

When we moved in to our house we had to buy a bunch of appliances. I got them all at Lowes for a very reasonable price. I tried to also get a 10% discount, but they wouldn’t do it, but the sales person did tell me that I could get a coupon when I moved for 10%. He said I could bring it in later and have it applied to my purchase. I never received the coupon from Lowes, however I went to ebay and found one there for a few bucks. The other day I went to lowes and they refunded the 10%, saving me about $600! If you have any big projects that you’ll be needing to get supplies from Home Depot or Lowes, consider getting the coupon. They will make a difference!

The Screen Savers Returns! 0

Jun29

This is probably old news, but the guys from one of my old favorite TV shows (which was taken off the air when G4 merged with TechTV) The Screen Savers is back! They are creating a podcast called This Week in Tech (or TWiT for short). I actually found it through iTunes. The latest version 4.9 includes podcast support.
